As a gift for Grandma, the Stauffers gathered together all the grandkiddos and surprised her with a fun photo session at her favorite beach in Del Mar. With a park in walking distance to the beach, we were able to take advantage of the beautiful views from above as well as below which added a colorful variety to our scenery. Throughout the session there was so much love and silly giggles. So precious to capture these moments!

What a fun family photo shoot with these gems! I've been photographing the Stont family for the last couple of years and was thrilled when they reached out yet again for another great session of memories. This year they wanted to mix up locations from the more woodsy areas we've gone in the past so we opted for a small beach in La Jolla to photograph. With the clouds creating a beautiful array of color in the sky, we couldn't have asked for a better background. Paired with this family's fun, playful energy and laidback beach wardrobe that matched the scene, it was a perfect day to dip our toes into the water and create some priceless moments!   

Summer Love 💕 Enjoying the last few days of Summer vacation before heading back to NorCal for school, Lauren and Armando knew they wanted to capture the beauty of San Diego one final time with their engagement session in Balboa Park. After mentioning how much they loved all the greenery the park had to offer, we sought out the park's gardens for a fun pop of color. With Lauren's vibrant red dress adding the perfect color contrast to all the flowers, it really made the couple stand out. Congrats Lauren and Armando!

For the day of their wedding, Sam and Danny knew they wanted to do their First Look around the corner from their home at Luce Loft where they met first on their very first date. The inner romantic in me totally swooned over such a cute idea and I was all on board. That moment when a couple sees each other for the first time is one of my favorite moments on the wedding day and I love how intimate and personal they can be.

With a few different locations in mind, we made sure to discuss a gameplan for the day as Sam and Danny also had another fun twist up their sleeve. Wanting to surprise their wedding party, the couple reserved an unforgettable ride to the ceremony in a classic San Diego Trolley Bus. Feeling like a bunch of time travelers cruising through the streets of the Gaslamp District, we rolled up in style for photos before the ceremony around Deck 655 where the party was set to take place later. Sam and Danny's fun and vibrant personalities fit perfect for the colorful textures of Downtown and their bigger than life wedding party (literally, 26 people total!!) was such a blast to photograph. We explored a few spots within the area taking advantage of all the unique backdrops nearby. Because the couple also wanted to join cocktail hour later in the evening, we had family meet us for photos right before the ceremony as well. Danny's family wanted to turn the occasion into a fun holiday card opportunity and brought along a few Santa hats for a fun twist. Love it!

Once photos were wrapped up, it was time to get these two married! Their ceremony at the new event space, Deck 655 was absolutely perfect and romantic in every way. It was beautiful watching these two and their guests share a few tears and laughs together as they celebrated the moment. After exchanging vows and sealing the deal with a kiss, these two were official husband and wife. WOO! Afterwards, we all celebrated the night with cake, toasts and a few games of skeeball ;) To top off the evening, we snuck off to the venue's balcony to capture some night photos as the flicker of the city's lights began to wake up and the streets gained a neon glow. 

Such a beautiful day spent with these two and so glad I could be apart of it all! Congrats Sam and Danny

Surfs Up 🏄‍♂️

When Randie and Mattias’ original plans to tie the knot shifted, these two Seattle oceanographers decided to make a road trip out of their elopement.
Hopping in their sprinter van, surfboards in tow, they cruised down the coast to join their closest friends and family for an intimate beach elopement in San Diego - the city they first met.

To end the evening, these two sealed the deal in true West Coast fashion by driving off in a vintage Volkswagen after sunset. How awesome!
Love when couples find fun, creative ways to celebrate their big day and tell their story in a more personalized way. Congrats Randie and Mattias!

La Jolla has always held a special place in Rick and Kristin's hearts, it being the spot they first met when attending school together at UCSD. Nowadays, they live in the Bay Area so when the two had an opportunity to take a road trip down South to San Diego, Rick knew it was the perfect moment to bring things full circle and pop the question to propose.

On the day-of, Rick wanted to keep things inconspicuous so packed a backpack with champagne and planned to take Kristin on a hike near their old campus in La Jolla. Reminiscing on those first days, their hike ended at the gliderport overlooking the beach. With the conditions being an ideal day to paraglide, the sky was filled with an array of colorful gliders parading the coast and creating a magical backdrop to surprise Kristin. Her reaction to the moment was so priceless! 

Afterwards, we cracked open that champagne to celebrate and show off Kristin's new set of bling. It's always such a treat to be a part of such a special life moment and document all the smiles. Congrats Rick and Kristin!

The Turner Family flew in from Texas for a fun beach getaway from the heat and decided to book a fun, destination photo session while on vacation. Coming in from out of town and unfamiliar with the area, I was able to share with them a few San Diego gems that would make for the perfect memory of their trip. Here are a few highlights from their session!

It's great to mix things up! During sessions, I always love to capture a good variety of different poses, combinations and areas. That way we can have fun exploring the location and, when you're looking back there are lots of unique memories to choose from!

Downtown weddings are the best! Ellie and Elliott celebrated their wedding in the heart of Downtown San Diego with a classic twist on a modern style. Being in such an urban area with a million backgrounds to choose from, we switched things up between the minimal architecture of Downtown and the historic, rustic aspect of the Gaslamp District which went perfect with their timeless black and white color palette.

We began the day getting ready at the Omni Hotel which offered a ton of nearby options for their First Look before the ceremony. During First Looks, I always try to scout out a location beforehand that is more tucked away and provides a more intimate moment between a couple. When I found this hidden bridge, I knew it was the perfect spot spot! After letting the butterflies settle, their wedding party joined us for an adventure around the area before ending up at the Marriott Bayfront to get these two married! Once the knot was tied and new bling was exchanged, it was time to party :) To wrap up the evening and begin celebrating, the party took us to the Ultimate Skybox where we made it in time to soak in some amazing rooftop sunset views.

For wardrobe, I typically tell clients a great way to create visual flow and color in photos is by basing your outfits with three colors in mind. This helps create contrast and avoid blending in together. When Wally showed up in this adorable burnt orange romper and Jake complimenting in a classic tan beach khaki and white button down, I knew it was going to be colorful bliss. The colors offset the blue waves and moss of rocks perfectly while creating a magical harmony with the sky as the Sun began to set later that evening.

These two were SO much fun to hang out with throughout the evening and I had such a great time documenting their energy together. From their contagious laughter, adventurous spirit and easygoing personalities, these two are definitely meant for each other. SO much so that they even got matching bracelets with the coordinates of where they met (see below). So cute!
 

 Can't wait to watch these two gems tie the knot next year :)

In this job, there is no feeling more rewarding than getting the opportunity to see a couple grow through the stages of life as they get engaged, tie the knot together and eventually go through the process of creating their own family. With Grace and Felipe, I got to experience that after meeting up with them for round 2 after announcing they were expecting their own little bun in the oven. Love being able to capture the evolution and continue creating memories for such amazing couples!

These two were such a treat! When clients feel like old friends you've known forever it's always the best and these two were no exception. I was fortunate to meet up with Veronica and Francis before the wedding day for an all day adventure exploring Los Angeles for their engagement session. After spending all day hanging out getting to know each other, photographing at a ton of L.A. landmarks and connecting over lunch at the famous Philipe's, a bond was formed.

Fast-forward to their wedding for round two of fun at Temecula Creek Inn. A beautiful Spring day in late March, you could feel the soft breeze whistling through the trees as the Sun warmed the air and the festivities began. The couple chose to tie the knot outdoors under a beautiful sea of oak trees that filled the space and created a romantic, rustic backdrop as the couple exchanged vows and lit their unity candle. 

With so many gorgeous areas to photograph in, after the ceremony we set off to take advantage of some of the more rustic barns, wagons and other creative features located near the ceremony space. What a photographer's dream!
